Building systems worth acquiring
2026-08-22 · 7 min
theworker02 is the public trail of systems work: ship things that can be evaluated as code, keep some planes proprietary when they are acquisition-shaped, and leave enough open work that the engineering taste is obvious without a pitch deck.
What depth means here
Depth is not a longer README. It is:
- a problem statement sharp enough to refuse fake solutions
- an architecture that can be argued with
- running surfaces — CLIs, runtimes, pages, packages — that demonstrate the claim
- a clear status: open-source, prototype, or proprietary-on-purpose
Open and closed on purpose
Some projects are deliberately open: Aftermath, Chimera, COMMONS, Rivet. Others are framed for sale or partnership — recovery control planes, networking fabrics, OEM packages — because the right home for them may be another company. Both tracks are real.
Serious discussions live on /acquire.
